Other Should I Become a Mathematician?
mathwonk, I'm currently still a high school student and I've recently finished the two volumes by tom apostol through self-study. I haven't had any significant problems and wonder whether I should continue this by studying ode's, linear/abstract algebra, real analysis, etc, or simply turn to...- strings235

Why bother becoming a physicist?
first of all, I'm kinda not understanding what you're saying. are you supporting me or against me? you say happiness isn't irrelevant (meaning it's relevant) but you have a cynical tone. ah? maybe happiness has a connotation that is too innocent and romantic to be appreciated. I should say...- strings235

Why bother becoming a physicist?
by the way...I don't understand exactly why you guys consider the female physics professor "hot"...no offense but she doesn't "look" that special. just saying. and drew. the dead honest truth is if you're studying physics because you want to make the greatest contribution or be the...- strings235

Why bother becoming a physicist?
the fact that people are learning much more nowadays is unquestionable. first of all, the number of people going to college is WAY higher than every before. people aren't just working on farms now--they're at least trying to learn. secondly, high school students are definitely learning more...- strings235

Which Undergraduate Physics Programs Are Strongest?
ok well here's the deal. I'm stuck between cal tech, mit, or harvey mudd. Forgetting graduate ranks and prestige cause it's nearly irrelevant at the college level, which would be a better choice? Thanks- strings235

Programs Theoretical mathmatics for physics phd
well there actually are categories. I was thinking about discrete mathematics, numerical analysis, dynamical systems, etc. But there are many connections between physics and both applied and theoretical math so I was thinking of taking individual courses and not taking a whole major where I...- strings235

Programs Theoretical mathmatics for physics phd
hey everyone, If I plan to pursue a physics phd in quantum theory/string theory do you recommend I get a B.S. in theoretical mathematics as well (with linear pde, Fourier anal, and topology, etc.)? I'm still not sure whether applied or theoretical math is the better choice.- strings235
