Hello all,
I have a new question related to Cesium in the waste stream of a refuse incinerator located in Machida, western Tokyo.
The site began sampling for Cesium 134 and Cesium 137, in the Incineration residue, after the accident in 2011.
From the time they initiated sampling, until June...
There have been plenty of fatalities related to the release of radiation from the three meltdowns, fires and explosions at Fukushima 1.
There was a huge evacuation as result of the ongoing radiation release. During this evacuation, many people died. It is readily apparent that there is a...
I find your interpretation of statistics enlightening.
In other news, TEPCO has increased the reactor-2 cooling water flow to the highest rate since the earthquake. Could they have done this in response to the recent 75 degree indication? And since they increased the flow rate at 15 minutes...
Sounds like they are doing the right thing in this case. The temperature rose, they checked the reactor gasses, and now they have responded by injecting boric acid. I would be interested to learn what isotopes were detected in the gas analysis.
I am pleased to read that there is no danger to the public or plant operators.
Any ideas why http://www.nwherald.com/2012/01/30/power-loss-shuts-down-byron-nuclear-plant-unit-public-in-no-danger/asepmmg/ if there was no danger?
Could the radiation have been more intense near the plant, or...

Also, is the plant currently using the main cooling pumps, or the backup pumps?
Last year after the Fukushima triple meltdown, the NRC told the Exelon that the backup cooling pumps at Byron were too small...

So, despite the fact that the recent Virginia earthquake exceeded the geological estimates for the site, and despite the fact that the quake exceeded the design basis, and despite the fact that the quake...
Any thoughts on the status of this "emergency"?
The news information is a bit confusing.
For example, they say unit 1 is operating normally. ;-)
