AI Thread Summary
An ammonia leak at the San Onofre Nuclear Plant prompted an emergency alert, though reports indicate that Unit 1 is operating normally. Initial confusion surrounded the severity of the situation, but updates confirmed there is no radiological leak and no danger to the public outside the plant. Experts are sought to clarify the situation further, as the leak appears significant. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has provided additional information through various reports. Overall, the situation is under control with no immediate threat to public safety.

Any thoughts on the status of this "emergency"?
The news information is a bit confusing.

For example, they say unit 1 is operating normally. ;-)

Any experts here care to help fill in the blanks? Sounds like a big ammonia leak.

Edit: No radiological leak and no danger to public outside the plant.

Hello, I'm currently trying to compare theoretical results with an MCNP simulation. I'm using two discrete sets of data, intensity (probability) and linear attenuation coefficient, both functions of energy, to produce an attenuated energy spectrum after x-rays have passed through a thin layer of lead. I've been running through the calculations and I'm getting a higher average attenuated energy (~74 keV) than initial average energy (~33 keV). My guess is I'm doing something wrong somewhere...
