    (x1, ct1) = (25m, 25m) - What do the 'm' represent? (SR)

M for meter perhaps, since these have the dimension of length.

    Investment: growth investor

Indeed. What I know is that you can only buy shares of ownership of a company after the company has sold them to the public. The first time at which they are sold is called the initial public offering (IPO). You can buy the shares through a broker (i guess your bank can help you to get shares)...

Spot the error (circumference of ellipse)

I could not see the mistake yet.. Interesting way to calculate the circumference :)

A question about speed of light and sunrise time

The further we look, the more we see into the past. That is a consequence of the finite time it takes light to reach our eyes. You mention that it takes 8 minutes for light to travel from the sun to our eyes. For that reason, the apparent position of the sun is not the 'real' position of the...

The End of Physics and Failure to Integrate QM & Relativity

Sounds interesting, hollowsolid. If integrating two theories is so complex I agree that it is a valid option to consider that there is a fundamental misunderstanding in one of the theories.

From wave equation to maxwell equation

I don't think you can obtain Maxwell's equations from the wave solutions, because they are just a special case of the Maxwell equations (no charges and currents). So, the Maxwell equations contain more information than the wave equation, that's why you can only go one way in the derivation.

Fortran Need Help with Writing Fortran95 Procedure

    I think opening and writing is done as follows Forgive me if I misunderstand your question open(1,file='file1') open(2,file='file2') ... open(7,file='file7') write(1) variable1 write(2) variable2 ... write(7) variable7 close(1,2,3,4,5,6,7)

Understanding Electromagnetism: Clearing Up Concepts and Interactions

My two cents: the keyword that describes your problem is "electric point dipole". Put that into google to find the result/proof.

    SLOT second law of thermodynamics

In general, I would like to say that to accept/reject existing theories is something that everybody has to do for themelves, and only after having studied it with a critical attitude. What you have written here comes across to me as denying that idea. I agreed with the rest of your post though.

Physics Physicists' Time: Do They Have Enough?

There is really no difference between 'different types of' physicists. Anyway, personal time needs to be claimed, if you don't do that you can keep working as there are always more things to be done.

Speaking at conferences with partially incorrect results

If it is clearly not correct yet, you can leave your current result out and mention the approach you are using in your outlook section, this might get you some audience response which can help you solve it later on. Otherwise, you definitely need to talk to your supervisor about this. Don't send...

Finding Monographs in Physics: A Guide to Resources

I can not speak for others, but I think the author has two separate points here. First of all: there are many resources available outside of the textbook the university wants you to use, some of which can be more helpful than your textbook. Secondly, the point I think the author tries to make...

How can I maintain my motivation to solve problems?

This is the behaviour you will get when you think the problem is too difficult. You will start doing things like cleaning the house, making a sandwich, etc. What you need to do then, is to directly look at the problem and determine what it is that you really need to do. It will be just one...

Suggestion Could PF Benefit from Simulposts in Multiple Subforums?

This could be done by switching from treating the subforums as folders, to giving threads labels/tags. It would be a big change. What would be possible then, is that threads can have more than one label, and that opening a subforum lists all threads with that label. I am not sure if there is...
