Hmmm.. I am not sure how many times this situation has occurred on PF. It just came to my attention. Here we have a https://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=503986" with definite cross-discipline subject matter. On the one hand, anthropology and at the same time, medical sciences.

Here's a thought:
I wonder if the PF code could be tweaked for simulposts to more than one subforums. Then this thread could be published in more than one sub-forum and posts would be automatically updated in all the sub-forums the thread exists)? That way, people with expertise in each of the subforum areas would be more inclined to read as well as address the thread.

This could be done by switching from treating the subforums as folders, to giving threads labels/tags. It would be a big change.
What would be possible then, is that threads can have more than one label, and that opening a subforum lists all threads with that label. I am not sure if there is enough demand to make such a large change to the forum. But it would be a quite modern idea. For an actual example that I know of: Gmail switched to using labels for messages instead of folders some time ago.
