Double cantilever beam problems
What kind of forces are we talking here? In the drawing in looks like the upward and downward forces are equal. In which case there will be no movement of said structure.- Tony71502

Undergrad Meat-eors: How fast does a steak need to travel to cook completely?
This will definitely affect the amount of friction due to air resistance. What cut of meat is this steak? What grade? We need facts. You could cut up the steak to have multiple orbiting chunks of meat to increase surface area and speed up the cooking process. -

Undergrad Two cars driving 30 and 40 mi/hr is like hitting a brick wall at 70 mi/hr
So if one car travels at 30 and one at 40, they both hit head on, and one car takes "70 mph" of force. What does the other take... 0? lol.. -

Automotive Race car suspension Class
Great information! I wish I was at the point in my automotive tinkering to design a suspension. Unfortunately I'm at the will of aftermarket parts manufacturers until then! Interesting to read, though.- Tony71502

Research Labs for Flow Control - RPI & Maryland
What do you mean flow control? CFM of airflow? Controlling hydraulic flow? If it's CFM of flow such as in cylinder heads or pumps, the companies that are major produces tend to have the best r&d regarding the specific applications. If your talking about hydraulic flow, well all you need is a...- Tony71502

Can Kinetic Energy Generators Revolutionize Car Efficiency?
The RPM is not faster near the center of a wheel, that is impossible. However, the velocity on the outside diameter of the wheel is much faster than on the inside diameter of any wheel.- Tony71502

Question involving load on beams
In case 1, there is no applied moment at the point in which the first load is applied, therefore the moment would start at zero. until the upward force of 7200, all areas on the shear diagram are negative, which means all lines on the moment diagram until that point have a negative slope. I...- Tony71502

Undergrad Fulcrum of 1 weight versus mass of board
Do you want the board to be balanced? A fulcrum is just used to amplify force, like when prying something. If you want it balanced just find the center of gravity and place the support there.- Tony71502

Undergrad Does Young's Modulus Affect Volume Changes in Solid Materials?
Conservation of mass... the volume is the same and poisson's ratio helps tell how much the cross sectional area will change.
