Physics or Computer Science: Which Path is Right for Me?
Hi there. I agree 100% with verty & morphism. It depends what kind of programming is your aim. For a batch payroll application almost no math at all is needed (knew lots of people doing this *without a degree*) The opposite side, a scientific / engineering application (e.g. simulation of heat...- toxique

Physics or Computer Science: Which Path is Right for Me?
Hi loom91 Check those old (about 2002) interesting quotes from a Slashdot thread that shocked me. Read them carefully and then decide. Hope it helps. My humble personal opinion: Do what you like most. You like physics, get into physics. Do not to go after thew bucks if possible. quote...- toxique

Generator Equation: RPM & Power Relationship
I am not sure (im still a newbe :frown: ), but let's work in senoidal regime: Voltage v(t) = V . sin(wt+p) w (omega) is in radians, so you could make w an equivalent to RPM: 1 RPM = 1 radian = 2*PI Of curse, you will also need current and impedances for a deep analysis, but you can get the...- toxique

Careers in Electronics: Math Topics & Classes for Study
math Hi Berkeman, thanks for your prompt reply. Just a technician. Unfortunately I do not have the time to make a full engineering degree (full time job, wife, etc.) Do not take me wrong. I just finished Algebra an Calculus I, but topics very poorly covered, or just NOT covered at all are...- toxique

Careers in Electronics: Math Topics & Classes for Study
Hi dudes, sorry if this is the wrong area for this post. I am doing a career in electronics. I realize that math classes are of a very poor quality (Algebra an Calculus I) Lots of topics were discarded cause lack of time, so i decided to study them on my own. The question is, what topics in...- toxique

Formula for calculating w0 (w at resonance)
Hi SGT. I have used W = 5000 (which is 2*pi*796.178) as stated in the exercise. It supposed to be W0 = 5000 Best Regardz.- toxique

Formula for calculating w0 (w at resonance)
Thanx a lot guys for your replys. About the solution by "young e.", a question: From the results you obtained, it means that Ztotal = 15.43 + 4.2857i. should not the reactive component on Ztotal be equal to 0, thus leaving only a resistive part <> 0 ? Even working it out as...- toxique

Formula for calculating w0 (w at resonance)
Thanks SGT for your prompt reply. By Y(w) you mean the reactive component or admitance? somewhere I've read that for this kind of circuits: w0 = [ 1 / sqrt(LC) ] * [ sqrt(r^2 - L/C) ] / [ sqrt(r^2 + L/C) ] or something similar. This is what i do not understand. sorry for not posting...- toxique

Which Engineering Field Should I Choose?
environmental might suck. Go take a career in chemistry (NOT chem. engineering), or biology, or medicine or pharmacy or psichology or law, or architecture if you want to find many many hot chicks. At our tech. institute, in electronics the ratio is about 30:2 (or worse), in chemistry the...- toxique

Formula for calculating w0 (w at resonance)
Hi dudes. sory if it is not the correct area for this question. A question. What is the formula for calculaing w0 (w at resonance) in a two-branch parallel circuit consisting of: A voltage source branch 1: R1 + L (in series) branch 2: R2 + C (in series) I thought it was the same as RLC...- toxique

Questions on US University System & Working/Studying at Night
Hi there brothers. Got two questions 1) How does the university system in the USA work? I've read some terms: GPA, grad, undergrad, bachelor, masters and so on, I am getting some little idea. Also, how much time does any stage takes (theoretically) to complete every stage? Is it full day...- toxique

High School How can I solve this system of algebraic equations?
Equation Hi NeutronStar, very kind from you. The steps are clear enough and self explanatory. Sure, any algebraic expression can be optimized more or less. Silly from me, I forgot to put the "i"s together on the LHS and then factorize. Thanx a lot for your help.- toxique
