Hybridization of S & F: Atomic Orbitals & Electrons
What compound are you looking at? The compound that comes to mind is that of SF6 in which you will need to invoke d orbitals as well. That would be the so called "sp3d2" hybridization; but don't tell a quantum field theorist...- Umbra Lupis

What is the significance of the equivalence point in acid and base titrations?
The equivalence point occurs ideally when at an inflection point. That is when slope reaches a extremum (want \frac{d^2(pH)}{dV^2} = 0) - however I have found that rarely happens in real life - you want the point closest to where this is true. I am still thinking about the first part.- Umbra Lupis

Undergrad The VERY, VERY general equation of an ellipsoid - Who knows it?
Thanks! The matrix form would actually be really cool to use; but I am ignorant of using matrix geometry. If someone could provide explanations and examples of the following, I might be able to understand what to do: (\mathbf{x - c})^T \mathbf{R}^T \mathbf{A} \mathbf{R} (\mathbf{x - c}) = 1...- Umbra Lupis

Undergrad The VERY, VERY general equation of an ellipsoid - Who knows it?
Wow dude thanks for the help! However, I was wondering if you would not happen to know the inequalities for an ellipsoid? Also, if possible you would not happen to have the equations relating your constants: a, b, c, d, f, g, h, i, j to the: xc: center of ellipse in the x-direction...- Umbra Lupis

Undergrad The VERY, VERY general equation of an ellipsoid - Who knows it?
I have been asking/looking around for the general equation of an ellipsoid and I am unable to find it anywhere. Does anyone know what it is? BTW: What I mean by the general equation of an ellipsoid, one that can be rotated in any way, that is 2 angles of rotation and one that does not...- Umbra Lupis

Two Quick Questions Regarding Lasers - I hope this is the right place to ask
In my math class we were given an assignment to model lasers, we have been given equations, and terms have been somewhat defined, but I do not know what the following terms are when relating to a laser. Any help in defining them would be awesome! What is: Mirror Transmission, Pump...- Umbra Lupis
