Solving a Monatomic Ideal Gas Expansion Problem
Thanks it helps a lot. PΔV is equal to W. I guess ii) is wrong since numerically the value for W is +3600J not -3600J Thus the ΔU should be +5400J not -5400J That would effect the answer in iii) so the Q is +9000J. Sorry but I'd just like to clarify the last line. Do you mean that...- VincentweZu

Solving a Monatomic Ideal Gas Expansion Problem
Homework Statement the diagram above of pressure P versus volume V shows the expansion of 2.0 moles of a monatomic ideal gas from state A to state B. As shown in the diagram PA = PB = 600 N/m2 , VA = 3.0 m3 and VB = 9.0 m3. a) i) Calculate the work done by the gas as it expands ii)...- VincentweZu

Simple Harmonic Motion displacement
Although using \frac{1}{2}k(Δx)2= \frac{1}{2}mv2 would get (1/2)A. I disagree that doing this is correct. In SHM the total energy of the system is \frac{1}{2}kA2 and the law of conservation of energy states that this is a constant. Therefore at any instant of the motion the sum of the kinetic...- VincentweZu

Simple Harmonic Motion displacement
Thank you for your response! Definitely there is no instant during oscillation where both these conditions occur, however, the equation which I have used - the conservation of energy, does not require that they do occur at the same time. In fact, all the law of conservation of energy states...- VincentweZu

Linear Motion Integration Problem
Thanks for your response! So what I have to do is to start with a = \frac{dv}{dx}\frac{dx}{dt} a = \frac{dv}{dx}v Since a = x x = \frac{dv}{dx}v ∫(x)dx = ∫(v)dv x2/2 = v2/2 + c where c = 8 Am I on the right track?- VincentweZu

What is the role of hydrogen bonds in holding water molecules together?
No because Hydrogen bonding is a form of intermolecular force - forces which occur between molecules. The bonding of hydrogen and oxygen in water is an example of intramolecular force - the force within a molecule.- VincentweZu

2D Kinematics questions -been stuck fo hours on it
In projectile motion: the horizontal component is assumed to have no acceleration and thus the velocity is constant. the vertical component is assumed to have only the acceleration due to gravity acting on it and thus you can use the equation vy2 = vy1 + 2at since acceleration due to gravity...- VincentweZu
