    Definition of Compound Statement

Hello, In my Real Analysis textbook (Schramm) they say that an example of compound statement would be "Either 1+1=2 or a pencil is a useful tool in neurosurgery." I was wondering why this isn't a non-statement since I don't see where the truth value of it would be. Thanks!

Engineering Brainstorming Career Switch to Engineering

Thanks for your replies. I don't necessarily think that the grass is greener. As I said, I'm happy with my current career choices, and given the opportunity would do everything again the same. I just really love science, reading about it, tutoring it, working through problem sets, etc... and...

Engineering Brainstorming Career Switch to Engineering

Thank you for your reply. I can give you more background. My major was in fine arts. Why do problem sets take me so long?

I'm taking Multivariable Calculus at Rice. This is for fun, I'm not required to take it and I'm not a science major. Problem sets take me a really long time, I wonder if it's normal. We are using Vector Calculus by Marsden. The problems sets are like about 15 problems due every week. They take...
