What is the shortest distance through the Earth?
sorry should have explained this more, before i was explaining the end result. The reason for the acceleration is because the force of gravity is based on the amount of mass on the other side of the object. From the surface of the Earth there is an acceleration of 9.8 m/s/s as it moves closer to...- xirow

What is the shortest distance through the Earth?
its acceleration towards the opposite direction its in is equal to its distance from the center of the Earth divided by Earth's radius times 9.8m/s/s- xirow

What is the shortest distance through the Earth?
Whoops I've been posting in the wrong page. This question reminds me of total recall. as you approached the end of the tunnel the force gravity has would start to fight against the object. because there is no friction it should just continue to accelerate then decelerate as it passes the center...- xirow

What is the shortest distance through the Earth?
when you reached the very center of the tunnel the majority of gravitational force applied on you would be equal on all sides (theoretically speaking, if it was perfectly in the center) then as you moved to towards one end the majority of the gravity from the Earth applied to you would be coming...- xirow

Undergrad For a ball falling through a fluid, does the ball do work on the fluid
as the ball moves lower, the water that is displaced moves towards the previous position, there can't be much energy being displaced because the potential energy the ball has doesn't change very much, all the heat would then start to be dissipated throughout the water -

What is the shortest distance through the Earth?
id be very impressed if anyone could build a tunnel through the earth, but if it was perfectly through the center of the Earth id imagine one would get stuck in the middle- xirow

High School Confusing that light is the only wave that doesn't move through
thanks, but my question may have been misinterpreted, what i was asking is if light could be moving through a medium when its in space- xirow

High School Confusing that light is the only wave that doesn't move through
I've always found it confusing that light is the only wave that doesn't move through a medium, is it possible that light does move through a medium, and dark matter is the parts of the universe the medium doesn't extend to.- xirow
