What characterizes an acid as strong?
I got it myself, not TEN though! http://www.dbhs.wvusd.k12.ca.us/webdocs/AcidBase/Strong-Weak-AcidBase.html http://www.members.aol.com/profchm/tcjc_ch15.html I'll be back with more questions in future. Inshallah -

What characterizes an acid as strong?
Hmmm... OK! I admit, Bladibla, you are right. You've answered my question. I actually overlooked the first sentence of your reply. Thanks! Can someone please name around ten strong acids, strong bases, weak acids and weak bases and give their respective %ionization? -

What characterizes an acid as strong?
So, my question stands unanswered! Why does HCl dissociate to such a high extent and while HF to only a little extent? -

What characterizes an acid as strong?
I've posted this question in another thread... didn't get the answer though Why does a strong acid (or a base) ionizes to a higher extent? Is this extent of ionization the only criteria for characterizing an acid (or a base) as strong or weak. Is it the simple bond polarization phenomenon... -

What Determines the Strength of a Conjugate Acid-Base Pair?
Thanks! this answers my first question, now what about the second one: Is it the polarity of bonds that characterizes a strong acid or base or something else? what is that? Dooh! please forgive me if I'm HACKING your thread... -

What Determines the Strength of a Conjugate Acid-Base Pair?
Why is it so? can please give me the reason that why the conjugate base of an strong acid is weak? When we define a strong acid (or base), we say that it is an acid (or base) which ionizes to a higher extent in acquous solution. What is the reason that it does so? Is the polarity of its bonds... -

How Can You Predict Products for a Double Displacement Reaction?
A single displacement reaction occurs when a more electropositive or electronegative atom replaces a less electropositive or electronegative atom from a molecule... right? I've been trying to use this philosophy for double displacement reactions but couldn't sort things out! can you help me in it? -

What is a stress singularity and why does it disappear at certain angles?
Well! let me see... the second link that you've mentioned doesn't contain the full text. As far as I can recall from my undergrad course, the Airy's stress function doesn't work here. It doesn't take the geometry as input does it? For example it doesn't consider the crack angle, all it will give...- Xishan

What is a stress singularity and why does it disappear at certain angles?
Hello! I've found in my FE Analyses (For an 'L' shaped model) that for each value of Poisson's Ratio there exists a certain substanded angle above which the elastic solution has no stress singularity. Can somebody tell me what really a stress singularity means mathematically? and that why does...- Xishan
