SUMMARY

The discussion centers on beginner resources for learning Quantum Cryptography, specifically targeting first-year undergraduate students with a foundational understanding of A-level quantum physics. A highly recommended resource is "The Code Book" by Simon Singh, which provides a comprehensive overview of cryptography's history and includes insights into the discovery and implementation of quantum cryptography. Participants emphasize the importance of accessible materials that bridge the gap between basic quantum physics and advanced cryptographic concepts.

PREREQUISITES
  • A-level quantum physics knowledge
  • Basic understanding of cryptography
  • Familiarity with quantum mechanics principles
  • Interest in emerging technologies in cybersecurity
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore "The Code Book" by Simon Singh for historical context and foundational knowledge
  • Research introductory courses on Quantum Cryptography offered by universities
  • Investigate online platforms like Coursera or edX for Quantum Cryptography courses
  • Read academic papers on the current state of Quantum Cryptography technology
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for first-year undergraduate students, educators in physics and computer science, and anyone interested in the intersection of quantum mechanics and cryptography.

Hi,
Can anyone recommend some good websites, or preferably books, which give an introduction to Quantum Cryptography? I'm looking for a level aimed at first year undergrad level, assuming little to no prior knowledge really, except for A-level quantum physics.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.
Many thanks.

I have read this, excellent book by a very thorough and respected author, Simon Singh, near the end it contains an great description of how quantum cryptography was discovered, could be implemented, and current state of the technology.

The book is a couple of years old, and includes the history of cryptography from ancient to present times.

Good luck...
