How did you find PF?

Hi everyone. I'm someone with no formal education in physics, and I'm working on a new theory (It's technically a hypothesis at this stage). This theory is big, and I mean BIG! I need help and advice on how to proceed with it, as well as how to protect my theory from getting stolen. Is there any way to back it up so I can prove it's mine? And of course if anyone is willing to help, I'm always happy for the assistance.

Thank you, anyone in advance. Have a pleasant day.

Welcome to PF. Please keep in mind that we do not allow personal speculation or new theory development here. That's in the PF rules (see INFO at the top of the page).

I understand. I apologize for the miscommunication. What I meant was advice on how to proceed. Not speculation on my theory itself.

The most practical way to move forward would be for you to hire a professional Physicist to review your work. Be sure to do an NDA as part of the agreement, to protect your intellectual property during their review. It will likely cost several thousand dollars/euros, but if you are serious about moving forward, you need an educated and honest critique of your work.

Also, you may want to read this PF Insights article before you spend that money: https://www.physicsforums.com/insights/wont-look-new-theory/

Thanks. I'll look into it.

Forget about it and learn some physics instead. Physics doesn't progress by people inventing their own theories.

I appreciate you didn't post your theory on here, but we get several such posts each month. They are always "big" theories.

In fact, there was one posted just a few minutes after your introduction:

No one is going to steal your theory because it's your own theory and of no use or interest to the professional physics community.

Fixed that for you. You just don't see many of them since the Mentors do their best to catch them quickly (and with the help of many users like you who report them when they see them).

We have definitely seen an uptick in such posts recently; I'm guessing it is due to AI chatbots being used by more people to help them with their personal theory development...

Alright, I get it. I understand your skepticism. But I'm confident enough to put it out. All I was asking in the post was how to move forward. I know there's a lot of people with theories that ultimately get disproven. But I'm confident that I have something good here. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. That's the whole point of science. That being said, I have empirical proof, and it aligns with established physics. When I said I'm an amateur, I meant I do it as a hobby.

Don't worry, I'm not going to spam the feeds. Really, I just like the subject, and I'm glad to be here.
