SUMMARY

The discussion centers on a college undergraduate seeking guidance on publishing a unique mathematical perspective technique for drawing. The individual expresses concerns about the suitability of academic journals for their work, particularly in mathematics and artistic techniques. Participants suggest that traditional publication may not be the best route, advising instead to consider selling the technique to computer graphics companies or game producers, as illustrators are unlikely to engage with academic literature.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of mathematical techniques in visual arts
  • Familiarity with academic publishing processes
  • Knowledge of the computer graphics industry
  • Awareness of artistic techniques relevant to illustrators
NEXT STEPS
  • Research suitable academic journals for interdisciplinary work in mathematics and art
  • Explore opportunities for collaboration with computer graphics companies
  • Investigate alternative publishing platforms for artistic techniques
  • Learn about marketing strategies for creative techniques in the gaming industry

Hello. I'm a college undergrad who has developed a mathematical perspective technique for drawing that I am convinced is original enough to be meaningful. Without going into too much detail, I think I have the mathematics background to formalize it, and I have the visual arts background to make it relevant to illustrators/practical applications.

While I'm aware that the odds of being accepted to a publication are very low, I was curious if anyone could recommend an appropriate academic journal for me to pursue publication in. I'm guessing that I lack the background to publish in a math journal, in which case I'm curious whether there's a journal for artistic techniques. I know this is a physics site, but I figured it was worth a shot-- I've tried searching myself to no avail.

In general, advice would be appreciated. I'm concerned that this is the wrong forum, but none of the other options seemed suitable.

Thanks for any advice on the matter.

It your idea is any good in practice, don't waste your time trying to publish it in a journal.
Sell it to a computer graphics company or a computer game producer.

I would guess the number of illustrators who read academic journals is approximately zilch.

xD, I'd been considering doing that, actually. But that's a very fair point about illustrators.
