Are we going to continue to expand or will we contract-expand-contract-expand-etc...

It's an open question and probably always will be to some extent. In the present 'best guess' cosmological model the Universe will not re-collapse in the future but will continue to expand and increasing rate forever.

Come back here in a few years time and the 'best guess' may well have changed, but that is what looks like happening at present.
