(CNN) -- Authorities have arrested a possible suspect in the decade-old JonBenet Ramsey murder investigation, law enforcement sources told CNN on Wednesday.

An investigator with the Boulder County, Colorado, District Attorney's office is bringing the man from Bangkok, Thailand, CNN affiliate KUSA reported.

Sources told CBS News that he is a 41-year-old American and second-grade teacher.

Two law enforcement sources told CNN the man was under investigation for an unrelated sex crime when information led to his arrest in the Ramsey case.

Carr was arrested Wednesday morning and has confessed to certain elements of the crime that are unknown to the general public, CNN affiliate KUSA reported.

This is why I am kinda starting to dislike armchair juries or whatever the term is :P people in the general public who claim guilty or innocent or whatever. As if the police are going to release every detail to the public.

A federal official involved in the investigation said that a hearing in Bangkok today could give the authorities access to Mr. Karr’s computer. The official said the authorities had been looking at him in connection with a child pornography investigation.
A NY Times article, "Schoolteacher Arrested in JonBenet Ramsey Case", Aug 17, has provided a name and some background on the investigation.

Strange stuff - now the suspect's ex-wife claims that he couldn't have done it, because, at the time, he was with her in Alabama.

However, if a DNA match is established ...; if a a DNA match is not established ...

It does sound fishy. I think it's plausible that his obsession with the case distorted his memory and he is living in a sick fantasy.

Or maybe the Thai police beat the daylights out of him to make him confess.

I do believe he has the right to be presumed innocent. I got involved in this, for 10 years, because I believe that right was never extended to the Ramseys, and that was wrong. -- http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/local/article/0,1299,DRMN_15_4923202,00.html
Nice job Michael Tracey. :approve:
