A user seeks help identifying a piece of New Orleans piano music they recorded, believing it may be by Dr. John or another local artist. They attempted to recreate the music using a guitar and an audio recorder but faced technical issues with sharing the file. After some research, they suggested the song might be titled "I Love That," but later expressed doubt about this identification. Other participants recommended using Shazam for music identification and acknowledged the difficulty in pinpointing the exact piece. The discussion highlights the challenges of accurately identifying music without clear references or recordings.

I have heard a piece of new orleans piano music but I lost track and I do not know the name of it. All I know is that it was played on Piano and I believe the artist who played it was either Dr. John (Malcom Rebennack), or some piano player from New Orleans. I tried to represent it as best I can, using a guitar and used a sound recorder application on an android mobile device. I hope it is clear and recognizable enough for maybe somebody to tell me the piece's name, and who was known to play it.

and in case link does not work, I try to include mp3 audio file.
Nope. Not seem to be in the directory.
Not showing up through "Attach Files" button although I see it in "Downloads" folder. Excuse me.
I hope the mp3 link will work.

I thought this was it:

I found the name. YouTube search partially focused on Dr. John, and a discussion & demonstration video called "The Piano Styles of Dr. John - Two Video Set - by Mac "Dr. John" Rebennack". The name of the song is called "I Love That". Less than two minute length, starts at 1:07 on the timeline.

I do not believe I found that specific piece anywhere else (on YouTube).

But that is very likely WRONG. So I still do not really know the name of the piece. Likely Mac was just giving a comment about something else under discussion before the particular clip of the video section was placed; so "I love that" is irrelevant to what he played in that specified video section.

The tune is vaguely familiar, and more so the more I listen to your good playing, but I cannot place it, either. Listened to all my Dr. John CDs, and not quite his style, I thought, too. Though he could have played it well, surely. Sounds more like something out of some old folk tune, Mexican or Hispanic, maybe?

Try Shazam.com. https://www.shazam.com/ It may be able to identify it.

@difalcojr,
I did find Dr. John's representation as I said in post #2, so readers, better to refer to that instead of my somewhat poor playing of it given in post #1. Not sure yet if "shazam" will work or how it works.

Possibly this forum is not well suited for my question. I took a chance.
