Do humans face deadly radiation traveling to the moon?

someone told me that it is impossible for a human being to survive in a spacecraft while traveling to the moon due to intense radiation somewhere in space that they would have to cross. is this true or just a hoax? I am not starting a conspiracy i just want a specific scientific answer on the truth. Thanks in advance.

Since people did go to the moon, it is an obvious hoax and a subject not worthy of discussion on PF.
