SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the philosophical implications of time perception, particularly the concept that the future may already exist in some form. Participants argue against the notion of precognition, asserting that time travel is a speculative idea, with references to the ban on time travel in China. The phenomenon of déjà vu is explored, with a consensus that it does not equate to foresight but rather a misinterpretation of present experiences. Ultimately, the conversation concludes that the topic is overly speculative and lacks empirical support.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of philosophical concepts related to time perception
  • Familiarity with the phenomenon of déjà vu
  • Knowledge of time travel theories and their cultural implications
  • Awareness of scientific arguments against precognition
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the philosophical theories of time, such as presentism and eternalism
  • Explore psychological studies on déjà vu and its neurological basis
  • Investigate the cultural and legal implications of time travel narratives
  • Examine scientific literature on the nature of time and entropy
USEFUL FOR

Philosophers, psychologists, science fiction enthusiasts, and anyone interested in the nature of time and human perception.

I do, think about it, what if time is like a stream, it needs a path right? What is time is the same. Some people say the they can see into the future, they could be right? Also, they can't change what's going to happen because it has already happened. It also explains deja vu.

By definition the future has not happened

Some people say the they can see into the future, they could be right? Also, they can't change what's going to happen because it has already happened. It also explains deja vu.

This is all bunk, people cannot see the future. Tests time and time again have demonstrated this, deja vu is nothing to do with telling the future (deja vu makes you feel like youve done something before, not exactly premonition considering you are actually doing it)

Time travel has been banned in China.

Did you ever consider that we experience time in one direction only because we just aren't smart enough to process seeing it in both directions. Many organisms aren't even aware of time going in the 'forward' direction. It could all be subjective and we may have invented the Entropy Argument to justify our own inadequacy.

Topic is overly speculative. Closed.
