Does Electrical Engineering Get Easier After Completing Calculus and Physics?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the challenges faced by a 30-year-old student pursuing an Electrical Engineering (EE) degree while balancing work and personal commitments. The student has completed Calculus 1, 2, 3, and Differential Equations, along with the first course in a three-part Engineering Physics series. Participants agree that while the foundational courses are demanding, the workload in Electrical Engineering remains consistent, with lab work potentially becoming more complex but not significantly easier overall.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Calculus (Calc 1, 2, 3) and Differential Equations
  • Basic knowledge of Engineering Physics
  • Time management skills for balancing coursework and personal responsibilities
  • Familiarity with Electrical Engineering course structures and requirements
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the curriculum for Electrical Engineering at local universities
  • Explore time management techniques for balancing work and study
  • Investigate the specifics of lab work in Electrical Engineering courses
  • Learn about advanced topics in Engineering Physics beyond the introductory series
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for adult learners pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree, students balancing work and education, and anyone interested in understanding the workload and challenges of EE coursework.

Hi guys, I am 30 years old, I work pretty much full time and I am working towards my EE degree slowly right now at a local community college. I took Calc 1,2,3 finishing Diff Eq now during summer semester, took engineering physics too (1st of 3).
It is difficult stuff just due to time constraints, work house, wife, boring adult stuff to do.
I was looking at my local Universities flow sheet for EE and it is a LOT of classes.

Once you get through all the calc/diff and Physics does it get "easier"
I am have to dedicate a lot of time to my physics homework and doing physics lab.
Is the workload for Electrical Engineering classes about the same ?

From my experience, class work stays about the same. The lab work may or may not get more difficult and time consuming. I would not say it gets significantly easier.
