Finding density when object is weighed in air and alcohol

Homework Statement


A particular object weighs 313 N in air and 254 N when immersed in alcohol of density 0.7 g/cm3. What are the volume and the density of the object?

The Attempt at a Solution


I found the volume by: 313-254 N to find the actual weight, then I divided it by 9.8 to get it into Kg, then I used the density formula to solve for volume which gave me 8.6L

So the volume is taken care of! 50% of the problem done :)!

As for the density, I'm confused because I thought I would just plug in my known values but it doesn't work. Can someone please guide me as to how I would find the density of this object? I greatly appreciate it!

Can you show what you do and get when you say "just plug in my values".

6.02kg from the two forces/ 8.6L that I found out from part a) =D

but it doesn't :[
 
Which force represents the total weight of the object? What you are solving for above is the density of the alcohol.
