SUMMARY

FM radio operates at a higher frequency than AM radio in the United States, resulting in a shorter wavelength for FM signals. Specifically, the FM band ranges from 88 to 108 MHz, while AM radio operates between 530 to 1700 kHz. Consequently, AM radio has a larger wavelength compared to FM radio, making it suitable for long-distance transmission due to its ability to diffract around obstacles.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of radio frequency bands
  • Knowledge of wavelength and frequency relationship
  • Familiarity with AM and FM modulation techniques
  • Basic principles of radio wave propagation
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the differences between AM and FM modulation techniques
  • Explore the impact of frequency on radio wave propagation
  • Learn about the applications of AM and FM in broadcasting
  • Investigate the historical development of radio technology
USEFUL FOR

Radio engineers, audio broadcasting professionals, students of telecommunications, and anyone interested in the technical aspects of radio transmission.

it has been a while. i need to know which wavelength is bigger FM radio or Am radio?

The standard FM band is higher frequency than AM in the USofA, therefore, shorter wavelength

so FM has short wave length and AM has bigger wave length
