They just want to ban things. In summary, Diana DeGette, the author of legislation limiting high cap magazines in CO, is not knowledgeable about the difference between bullets, clips, and magazines. She authored legislation banning high cap magazines, but is unclear if she meant clips or bullets. This lack of understanding of the subject matter is concerning, especially considering the potential consequences of her actions.

100 round drum magazine and a slide stock. Just what every hot head needs. It doesn't matter what people call it or if they mispronounce it if they know what it is capable of.

The problem with politicians is that most of them apparently don't realize what is already legally on the market or what is in the pipe line.

What is high capacity magazine legislation and why does it fail?

High capacity magazine legislation refers to laws or regulations that restrict the possession or sale of magazines that hold a certain number of bullets. These laws are intended to reduce the number of gunshot victims in mass shootings. However, these laws often fail to achieve their intended goal due to several factors.

What are some reasons for the failure of high capacity magazine legislation?

One reason is that these laws are not effective in preventing criminals from obtaining high capacity magazines through illegal means. Another reason is that many gun owners already possess high capacity magazines and are not willing to give them up. Additionally, these laws may have loopholes that allow individuals to modify their magazines to hold more bullets. Finally, there is a lack of evidence to support the effectiveness of high capacity magazine legislation in reducing gun violence.

Do high capacity magazine laws violate the Second Amendment?

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution protects the right of citizens to bear arms. Some argue that high capacity magazine legislation violates this amendment by restricting the possession and use of certain firearms and accessories. However, the Supreme Court has not ruled on the constitutionality of these laws, and there is ongoing debate on the interpretation of the Second Amendment.

Have any states successfully implemented high capacity magazine laws?

Yes, some states have implemented high capacity magazine laws, but their effectiveness in reducing gun violence is still debated. For example, in California, a law was passed in 2016 to ban the possession of magazines holding more than 10 bullets. However, there is limited research on the impact of this law on reducing gun violence.

What are some alternative solutions to reducing gun violence instead of high capacity magazine legislation?

Some alternative solutions include implementing stricter background checks, enforcing existing gun laws, increasing funding for mental health services, and promoting responsible gun ownership and storage. There is ongoing research on the effectiveness of these solutions in reducing gun violence, and finding a comprehensive solution will likely require a multifaceted approach.
