How Can Quantum Physics and Mathematics Coexist in Scientific Discoveries?

What has brought me here? I have read about exciting experimental discoveries that challenge the intuition (e.g. about quantum physics), and I have studied the well defined and beautiful structures of mathematics. What is "slightly" confusing though, is the meeting ground of these. Anyway, both topics are interesting, and I hope that this forum provides me with many enjoyable moments.
