So for general technical questions (like about your work or some general curiousity), you would start a new thread in the appropriate forum and post links to the reading you've been doing about the question and ask specific questions about that reading. That is a good way to start off a good conversation. It helps if the links are to reliable mainstream scientific information instead of pop-sci sources.

For schoolwork-type questions (even if for self study), please start a thread in the Homework Help forums, and show us your work so far on the problem. You will get good tutorial help there, as long as you show your best efforts to work the problem. :smile:
