    stuff like
    -What degree did you study
-What a typical day is like for you
-How closely you get involved in what is being irrigated (plants ,trees...)
-What advice you would give me (a mechanical engineering student who wants to work in a profession related to agriculture

You might look into firms like Valley that manufacture irrigation equipment. Or more general agricultural equipment companies such as John Deere, CNH, etc. They hire mechanical engineers.

Actually designing irrigation canals and the like seems more like civil engineering to me.
