Is There a Limit to the Expansion of the Universe?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the concept of cosmological expansion, specifically addressing whether there is a limit to the universe's expansion. Participants assert that general relativity supports the idea of perpetual expansion without a defined limit. No research papers were directly referenced, but the consensus indicates that current scientific understanding does not suggest any constraints on the universe's expansion.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of general relativity
  • Familiarity with cosmological models
  • Knowledge of the observable universe
  • Basic concepts of astrophysics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the implications of general relativity on cosmological expansion
  • Explore current theories regarding dark energy and its role in expansion
  • Investigate recent research papers on the fate of the universe
  • Learn about the observable universe and its limits
USEFUL FOR

Astronomers, physicists, and students of cosmology seeking to deepen their understanding of the universe's expansion and the principles governing it.

What do you mean by "limit"?

There is no indication of anything that could be called "limit", and general relativity works fine with expansion forever.
