How did you find PF?
Facebook
Hi everyone, I'm excited to join this physics forum and appreciate the open platform provided by the site owners, especially for discussions around the emergence of quantum physics theories.

While I don't have formal credentials in physics, I'm deeply interested in the subject and have pursued self-education through extensive reading and listening to lectures. I'm currently preparing to share some of my findings.

My first academic paper in a related field was peer-reviewed and published (though the fees were unexpected). I hope to learn from this community and contribute to the conversations in a meaningful way, recognizing that significant contributions have come from individuals without formal training. We see this in the history of science with figures like Michael Faraday, Barbara McClintock, and even Albert Einstein during his time at the patent office. I hope to follow in the spirit of rigorous inquiry, regardless of traditional pathways.

Welcome to PF.

Depending on the journal(s) that your peer-reviewed articles have been published in, they may be valid for discussion here at PF. This section of the PF rules (see INFO at the top of the page) would apply:

Acceptable Sources:
Generally, discussion topics should be traceable to standard textbooks or to peer-reviewed scientific literature. Usually, we accept references from journals that are listed in the Thomson/Reuters list (now Clarivate):

https://mjl.clarivate.com/home

Use the search feature to search for journals by words in their titles.

In recent years, there has been an increasing number of "fringe" and Internet-only journals that appear to have lax reviewing standards. We do not generally accept references from such journals. Note that some of these fringe journals are listed in Thomson Reuters. Just because a journal is listed in Thomson Reuters does not mean it is acceptable.

References that appear only on http://www.arxiv.org/ (which is not peer-reviewed) are subject to review by the Mentors. We recognize that in some fields this is the accepted means of professional communication, but in other fields, we prefer to wait until formal publication elsewhere. References that appear only on viXra (http://www.vixra.org) are never allowed.

Ok so this is not a forum to discuss new ideas that have not gone through a formal review.. thank you anyway then. I move back to peer reviewed submissions and try to figure out APCs.

What's an APC in this context?

APCs are a way for publishers to cover the costs of publishing and distributing research articles in an open access format, shifting the burden of funding from libraries and readers to authors. They range from several hundred to several thousand dollars and are typically covered by institutions. Imagine my surprise when my paper was accepted. It was my lack of understanding of the open forum submission process that caught me off guard. Since then, it been about finding the right community to share.

Can you say which journal accepted your paper?

I'll you know this was not much of a welcome. I am going to find a new group. Thank you for the clarity.

Well, it's important for us to be up front about our rules and that we enforce them pretty strictly. We strive to maintain a high signal-to-noise ratio here.

As long as your papers are published in approved peer-reviewed journals, they are likely okay to discuss here. If they are not (modulo the quote from the PF rules above), then yeah, it's best not to try to post them here for discussion.

Oh please, Einstein was "formally trained", he was doing his phd at that time!

Question is: are you able to pass a master-degree final exam?
