Shelter In Place

Now that most of us here are forced to confine ourselves to our dwellings, the theme this week is on the scenes from inside such dwellings. Take a photo of the interior of where you are confining yourself. Show your messy bedroom, if you dare!

Contest Rules:

1. Any digital photo or digitally-scanned photo relevant to the theme will be accepted within the contest period. In case there's a gray area, or you're not sure if the picture is suitable, check with me first.

2. Size limitations: Your photo is only limited to the file size limitation set by PhysicsForums. However, your may want to consider reducing the size of your photo if the file size exceeds 1 Mb. If your file is being hosted elsewhere, I will have to see how it is being displayed here, and I may ask you to resize and resubmit if it causes problems.

3. Upload your photos to any of the photo servers such as imageshack or photobucket. Then post it the relevant contest thread and link your picture using the img command. PM me if you do not know how. Alternatively, you may simply upload your image file to PF, and then have the full image displayed in your post.

4. Only ONE picture per member per contest. Once a picture is posted, it cannot be changed other than a total withdrawal by that member from that week's photo contest. Exceptions will be made for modification to comply with the rules, such as resizing.

5. At the end of the contest period, I will open a poll and every PF member can vote for the picture they like best.

6. Note that in case we have a large number of entries, I will do the polling in more than one thread. If that's the case, you can vote in each of the polling threads. The photos will be assigned in the polling threads in the order they were submitted.

7. The photo of the subject must be something that you took directly, not via in intermediary medium, and not taken by someone else. Unless otherwise noted, a photo of another photo, painting, print, etc. does not qualify.

8. You can use a picture only once. Once it is used in a contest, it cannot be reused in another contest.

9. Please post only pictures meant for submission in this thread. Photos not meant for submission must not be posted in the contest thread. Posting of more than one photos by a member may result in an automatic disqualification from the week's contest.

My wife Pegi works in customer support in a call center, so it was easy for her to bring a setup home to keep working here. I work most of the day in the Hardware Lab at my work, so I had to bring one of my test setups home to stay productive (foreground).

I spend about half my time at home here, and the other half in my much neater (and more boring) living room.

My orchids don't seem to realize that there's a Coronavirus outbreak. All of them are flowering right now. So I have been tending to them as well during my stay at home. Here are two of them taking their turn at taking a bath in my kitchen sink.

Somebody should really do something about all those snakes. They could be a work hazard.

I told the boss before she did the separation inspection it was our second priority. The first priority was cleaning the floor between desks of old dropped candy and nut shells. :))

The difference between this and the pre-quarantine look is ... hm ... well, it's ... hm ... OK, it's exactly the same.

Wait ... there IS a difference. Pre-quarantine I usually had a better haircut

The books are all books about wood and there are pieces of wood all over the place.

Our son always had good design sense. After some 15 years in the banking industry (remember that?) he is now trying to make his way and mark in professional artistic and fashion photography. He uses special (non-electronic) development techniques unique to himself, employing e.g birefringence, that have brought him acclaim - but not yet any money.

Anyway, about age 10 we got him a new bedroom/study which he was free to design. We had an excellent cabinet-maker who can do curved wood. Who jibbed rather at Ralph’s ideas of the red lacquered central part and bookshelf edges - but he came round when he saw the result. It is all cherry wood and has lasted practically as new undamaged till now; the room is still there for him when he comes back and otherwise serves for domestic administration and occasional guest room. The Teddy and ET I put out for show and usually live in the open cupboard behind, next to a small part of a huge collection of Smurfs. We are strictly forbidden to get rid of any of it; I suppose it could all end in a museum one day. Childish things put away, on right you can see 2 vols of Feynman Lectures (he graduated in Physics). A rather satisfactory room, we think.
