Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around finding summer programs related to physics, specifically for a 10th-grade student interested in astrophysics. The scope includes inquiries about program availability after a previously accepted program at PARI, as well as suggestions for alternative opportunities.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant is seeking summer programs in physics, particularly after June 30, following their acceptance into a PARI program.
  • Another participant expresses interest in similar programs.
  • A third participant suggests looking into a state's Governors' program and mentions Mathcamp as an option, highlighting its schedule and the flexibility to choose classes relevant to physics.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the need for summer programs, but no consensus exists on specific programs available after the PARI dates, and suggestions vary.

Contextual Notes

Participants have not provided details on the specific criteria or prerequisites for the suggested programs, and there is uncertainty regarding the availability of programs that meet the original poster's timeline.

I am currently a high school student (10th grade) and am looking for any summer programs relating to physics, particularly astrophysics.

I was already accepted into a program at PARI through Duke, but this goes 6/16-6/30, and many programs I have found start before or during that.

So does anyone know of any programs that start after that? I applied for a 5 day program at the NSCL through MSU that starts in August, but the results don't come back until April, and I don't want to wait and hope I get lucky… Thanks.

I would also be interested in stuff like that.

Bump. Really want some info.

I don't have anything Physics-based (though maybe look into your state's Governors' program, whatever it is), but if you've done up through precalculus and trigonometry, you can look into doing Mathcamp. Goes from July 5th to August 10th. Calculus experience is preferred, but it's a great experience and you can choose your classes, picking ones relevant to physics and whatnot. Plus, alumni are automatically invited back for following years.
