Hello,
I am reviewing standard literature on the Black Hole Information Paradox and Hawking Radiation (specifically starting from Hawking's 1976 paper and Susskind's Black Hole Complementarity).
I have a foundational question regarding how observational limits are formally defined when describing the quantum state of infalling vs. external observers.
Specifically, how do textbook models account for the physical boundary between measurable observables and information that is considered effectively lost beyond the event horizon? Are there specific peer-reviewed papers that mathematically model this observational boundary within standard quantum field theory in curved spacetime?

What makes you think this is even a valid concept in textbook models to begin with?

You say you have reviewed the literature. Can you give any specific references from the literature that raise the question you pose here?
