Duvall died “peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort” on Sunday, according to a statement from his wife of 20 years, Luciana, and an announcement from his publicist

I finally watched the movie Secondhand Lions, with Robert Duvall and Michael Caine. Loved the movie.

Robert Duvall was one of my favorite actors since appearing as Boo Radley in "To Kill a Mockingbird" when I was a child. His ability to express regional accents was profound considering he was born in San Diego, California where his Daddy served in the US Navy.

Duvall won an Oscar for best actor in a leading role in Tender Mercies (1983). Strangely, the other nominees were all British. Even more strangely, Al Pacino (Scarface) and Robert de Niro (The King of Comedy) were not even nominated.

Scarface is not my sort of film, but Pacino's performance was brilliant. You have to wonder what the Academy had against him. Pacino's loss was Duvall's gain.

Same here. I also very much enjoyed the miniseries, Lonesome Dove, in which he played Texas Ranger Captain Gus McCrae.
