SUMMARY

In scientific publishing, authors should list their affiliations based on their current associations at the time of the work's completion. If an author has attended a university but is no longer enrolled or affiliated, they should not include the university name on their paper. Instead, they should indicate their current employer, especially if the research was conducted in a corporate or industrial setting. This practice ensures transparency and accuracy in authorship representation.

If you went to a university, but did not graduate and are no longer in any classes, and you do not work for them, do you still put "University of [x]" on the title page of a scientific paper?

Thanks,

Jake

The general convention is that the authors state their affiliations at the time the work was performed. If you're not associated with a university, and are, for example, publishing work that has resulted from corporate or industrial research, you would generally state the company that you work for.
