This one I found is too good to not share here on Physicsforums; I am not sure where to place it and not sure just what to title it.

Some couple with a cat in Hawaii, doing their own scientific but informal thinking, decided their cat might like the water and shore and the surf at the beach. They are correct.

Cats and water, an anecdote:

There were two cats in Northern California, brothers, sons of Bootsie, a prolific breeder. Jonesy striped grey and black was an energetic hunter tackling local birds, rodents and insects. Brother Mooney, pale white with brown swirls, could not be bothered hunting with a convenient daily supply of cat chow avaliable. Mooney preferred riding in my sister's arm much like the cat in Peanuts. Jonsey would not be carried but easily scaled tall trees and rooftops.

Jonsey taught himself to hunt ornamental carp in neighbors' fish ponds, sliding underwater and swimming to capture and kill bottom feeders. When frustrated by protective wire mesh placed over ponds, Jonesy became a dedicated gopher hunter in nearby yards and orchards. Despite his propensity for aquatic hunting, Jonsey would violently react to even a drop of water striking his head from rain sprinkles or overflow when we changed his water bowl.

Mooney, an indifferent groomer, could care less about water splashes. Same litter but different personalities. I never thought of taking our cats surfing but I wonder which feline sibling might have taken to the ocean given the opportunity.

What an awesome cat! He reminds me of another youtube cat in Australia that rides in the front handlebar basket on a bicycle, jumping off occasionally to walk on a fence railing, and smoothly returning to the bike. I'll have to search for that on youtube.
