SUMMARY

The discussion centers on sound insulation testing standards for plastic foam and cellular products, specifically referencing EN, ISO, and ASTM standards. Key standards mentioned include E90, E336, E596, and E1414, which outline various test methods for measuring airborne sound transmission loss and attenuation. Participants emphasize the necessity of using accredited testing facilities, such as those with UKAS accreditation in the UK or the Vietnam Metrology Institute in Vietnam, to ensure compliance with these standards.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of EN/ISO/ASTM standards related to acoustics
  • Familiarity with E90, E336, E596, and E1414 test methods
  • Knowledge of accredited testing facilities and their significance
  • Awareness of sound insulation materials, specifically plastic foam and cellular products
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the Vietnam Metrology Institute for accredited sound insulation testing
  • Study the E90 Test Method for Laboratory Measurement of Airborne Sound Transmission Loss
  • Explore the E336 Test Method for Measurement of Airborne Sound Attenuation between Rooms
  • Investigate UKAS accreditation requirements for testing facilities in the UK
USEFUL FOR

Acoustic engineers, product developers in the building materials industry, and quality assurance professionals seeking to ensure compliance with sound insulation standards.

Dear Dipstik,

Thank you for your kind supprot,

Do you know where can perform this test?

Where are you based? You need an accredited test facility (in for example the UK that would be a company with UKAS accreditation for the relevant test)
You can always try contacting you National Measurement Institute, they should have list of accredited companies that can perform the test you need.

Edit: according to your profile you are based in Vietnam; so try the Vietnam Metrology Institute.
