SUMMARY

In the recent independence referendum, 99.57% of South Sudanese voters opted to secede from Northern Sudan, as reported by the referendum commission. This overwhelming majority reflects deep-seated cultural and religious differences between the two regions. The South, which produces over 80% of Sudan's oil, currently receives only 50% of the revenue, leading to heightened tensions with the North. The oil-rich border region of Abyei is set to hold a separate vote regarding its allegiance.

From Astro's link:

Some 99% of South Sudanese voted to secede from the north, according to the first complete results of the region's independence referendum.

A total of 99.57 percent of those polled voted for independence, according to the referendum commission.

I'm aware of the cultural/religious differences between north and south Sudan, but when I see 99+ % of any large group of people agreeing on anything, I get a bit  skeptical. I hope for the best, though.

I wonder if Northern Sudan will be happy:

Sudan exports billions of dollars of oil per year. Southern states produce more than 80% of it, but receive only 50% of the revenue, exacerbating tensions with the north. The oil-rich border region of Abyei is to hold a separate vote on whether to join the north or the south.

Looking at the map, south has more oil fields.
