SUMMARY

This discussion focuses on resources for understanding SQUIDs (Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices). Key recommendations include the Hyperphysics website for a basic overview and two essential textbooks: "Principles of Superconductive Devices" by van Duzer, which is considered the standard text, and "Intro to Superconductivity" by Tinkham, which also covers SQUIDs comprehensively. These resources provide a solid foundation for anyone looking to deepen their knowledge of SQUID technology.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of superconductivity principles
  • Familiarity with quantum mechanics concepts
  • Basic knowledge of electrical engineering
  • Access to academic textbooks on superconductive devices
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore the Hyperphysics resource on SQUIDs for a foundational overview
  • Read "Principles of Superconductive Devices" by van Duzer for in-depth knowledge
  • Study "Intro to Superconductivity" by Tinkham for additional insights on SQUIDs
  • Research recent advancements in SQUID technology and applications
USEFUL FOR

Students, researchers, and professionals in physics and electrical engineering who are interested in superconductivity and its applications, particularly those focusing on SQUID technology.

Hi,

Does anyone out there know of any good resources on the net that explain how SQUID's (Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices) work? I've seen a few textbooks, but they tend to do a pretty average job of things. Perhaps there are some decent lecture notes out there or something that somebody knows of??

Cheers!

Well, you could look at Hyperphysics:
http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/Hbase/solids/squid.html"
but to get an full understanding, I suggest van Duzer's Principles of Superconductive Devices which is the standard text on this. Tinkham's book Intro to Superconductivity is also excellent and, as I recall, it covers SQUID's.
