Dang! I loved his cameos in the Marvel movies, made it a game with myself to try to spot them. He published an autobiography in comic book form. (Yes, I know they are now called "graphic novels" but they were always and will always be "comic books" to me).

I was not a big Marvel reader in my comic reading days, late 60s-early 70s. Preferred DC for some reason. What I recognize now as more fully-developed and interesting characters in the Marvel line were precisely the things that turned kid-me off to Marvel. Anyway I remember Lee's name as being prominent even back then. People didn't often know the names behind their comics, but they knew that name. IIRC he would regularly respond to readers on the letters page.

Obviously this was expected soon due to his age, but sad to hear nonetheless. I'm not sure if it's good or bad he went out on top -- I understand he didn't make much money from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he at least got to see 10 years of its evolution (it's nearly finished). I would assume they already shot his cameo for the last main line movie.

I'll definitely miss his cameos. Hopefully, he did a bunch of generic ones that they can use for the next 10 years.

American writer and former president of Marvel Comics Stan Lee has died at the age of 95.

In 1961, Lee created The Fantastic Four for Marvel Comics, and went on to create titles including Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk.

The legendary comic book author died at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to a family lawyer.

And how he created Spider-Man

Rip.

I read his popular comic collection as a kid. And even try to get some collector's item (like X-Men #1).

Why did he pass away?
