I am taking a course in mechanical vibrations next semester and was wondering if I should take a course in controls?

Does vibration and controls have any connection? It seems like they are used in different disciplines and knowledge in one don't help with other. I could be wrong.

Can someone explain what vibrations and controls are and in where in industry are they used?

Thanks.

I recently went on a lot of co-op interviews and the #1 academic question was "Do you plan to take controls?" It seems to be a highly sought after skill.

It is required at my school, two semesters of it.

For mechanical engineers FEA is very important. I'd say make sure you take an FEA class as a tech elective.

Thanks for your response. I will definitely look into it.

leright: I am taking finite element right now. It's a good skill to have.
