SUMMARY

Today, October 10, 2020, is recognized as a unique date due to its numerical symmetry, which is a point of interest in various discussions. The conversation highlights the arbitrary nature of date significance while also touching on fundamental physical constants and their implications on the universe. The mention of the selfie taken on December 11, 2013, at 14:15:16 serves as an example of how specific moments can be perceived as special. This discussion invites reflection on the nature of time and numerical patterns.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of numerical symmetry and its cultural significance
  • Basic knowledge of fundamental physical constants
  • Familiarity with the concept of arbitrary significance in mathematics
  • Awareness of how dates are formatted differently across cultures
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the mathematical properties of palindromic dates
  • Explore the significance of fundamental physical constants in physics
  • Investigate cultural interpretations of special dates and their meanings
  • Learn about the history and significance of notable numerical sequences
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for mathematicians, physicists, cultural historians, and anyone interested in the significance of numerical patterns in everyday life.

I am not sure this is worth saying but if I don't say it now there will never be another chance, whereas I am in a position to be the first to say it here. It was pointed out to me this morning that today is 10/10/2020. Er, in America you say that the wrong way round don't you, but it is still special the same way.

OK the numbering is essentially arbitrary, the only non-arbitrary physical things are dimensionless ratios of a handful of fundamental physical constants, is that right? If and oniy if they were different the universe would be different from what it is, is that right? Some of us could maybe do with reminding. Though there is no special day for that, tomorrow will do.

Hm ... I guess it means we should do everything twice twice.

The only thing that makes this selfie stick out is that it was taken on 11.12.13 at 14:15:16
