Uncovering the Mystery: Color Code #black

In summary, the picture on the left is a parody of a fitness ad, the one on the right is from a painting, the third is a well-known structural organic chemist, and the fifth is a still from a famous movie.

The color code for hidden text is #black.

Some of these questions are insanely tough. I'll post the answers after sufficient participation.

1) The first is a picture of a person who starred in a famous American sitcom of the seventies. The second is of a famous director. The third is that of a cult director, who also starred in a couple of famous movies. The three people have been inspirations for something. What?

Is it Shaastra time already?

>>2. I can see it's a merger of a Dubya and Alfred E. Neuman's pics, but apart from that, I can't come up with anything.

It's Saarang time

Yep. You got both right.
Highlight below to get a fuller explanation for the second one
>>Cover of the US magazine "The Nation", at the time of George Bush's election as President, portraying him as Alfred E. Neuman of Mad magazine, who also ran for president once.<<

Oh, okay!

Btw, if possible, could you put up a bigger version of the second pic in #5? Can't make much out of it.

I'll make a guess at 4:
Nehru??

  • #6
A stab at 7:>>The guy's Rimsky-Korsakov - Russian composer (no wonder the pic looked familiar! :D) and the other pic depicts a lot "fives". I guess that's the connection, since Rimsky was part of a group of five Russian composers collectively known as 'The Five', 'The Mighty Five' and so on.<<

Btw, the guy next to Mahatma Gandhi looks terribly familiar, too!

4) Chaplin?

siddharth, do you have bigger versions of the pictures? The first pic in Q3 is tiny! All I can see is a Gregory Peck-like person...with not enough clarity to tell who it really is. But in any case, I'll take a shot at the theme for this one...
>>Is it something realted to Freud or dreaming? The Kekule connection is obvious; and then there's Magritte's pipe which possibly borrowed from Freud and perceived realities/surrealism; no idea which famous movie the first pic is from; the last one appears to be from a Seinfeld episode, but the text makes no sense - George Costanza can not create the show - so it's either a Freudian slip, or more likely, it's part of a dream that George has in one of the episodes; the connection to Napoleon, I'm not very sure about - Googling "freud napoleon" tells me that Freud spent a lot of time doing a psychoanalysis of Napoleon, but I haven't looked into any of it. <<

Jimmy got #4; I'll take a wild shot at #1...
>>Is it something to do with AI? Only thing I have to go by is Kubrick. I can't place the other two faces, but they both look very familiar.<<

More guesses...

>> On #5, I've got no idea what the connection is: the first picture is clearly a model T; the second is anything but clear (too faded to tell what's going on there); the horse may be something painted by M F Hussain, but that's a complete guess; the dude in the pic is Bill; the map is obviously pointing to scotland - a map tells me that the dark blue county is Ross & Cromarty (doesn't ring any bells); the last pic looks like kangaroos, maybe the keyword there is "joey"?; in all, I see no obvious connection, so I'll go with Monica Lewinsky :)

#6 - is it 'tsunami'?

Nice work on the 4th, jimmysnyder! I guess I've seen him with Einstein in another photo.

Gokul, >>at the moment, I don't have any idea about the connection in #1, but could the man with the cigar be the guy who played Skipper in Gilligan's Island?<<

  • #12
I have an idea about #3
-The second picture is Magritte's "This is not a pipe". The 5th picture has not George, not Elaine and not Cosmo in it.-
Based on this small sample of two out of five, I'll take a stab at it and say the common concept is:
Things that are not what they seem
EOM

Edit: The chemist is Perkins. He invented the dye called Mauveine. This is a tight fit, but you could say that when you dye something, the thing's true color is hidden. My guess is starting to fray.

Ok, here's another of the "wild guesses"

5. >>The connection: Friends - sitcom. A Chandler Metropolitan Sedan (got this from Wikipedia! :D), Bill Clinton -> Monica Lewinsky, Ross and Cromarty, a Joey. Need to fit in Pheobe and Rachel there somehow. I guess that painting has to do with the mythological character of Phoebe? Oh btw, thanks Gokul for the clue on "Joey"<<

Addendum:>>The second pic is the poster for the movie Rachel, Rachel<<

The person in the first photo in 1) is Carroll O'Connor. He played the part of Archie Bunker in the sit-com All in the Family. I don't know the other two people.

You've identified the guy correctly, but that's not the connection I'm looking for.

Yes, correct!

Sorry, but I don't have any alternate pictures. Maybe you can try to magnify it?

You've identified the pictures right, but that's not the connection I'm looking for. This question is very tough, so here's a hint :>>What did kekule dream about?<<

No, not AI.

That's not it. I've given a hint above though.

Absolutely! You've got the connection. It's not a painting, but a book cover.

The person in the first photo in 1) is Carroll O'Connor. He played the part of Archie Bunker in the sit-com All in the Family.
That's correct.

After a little 'wikiing' >>(Colour) Synaesthesia<<

Yes, that's the right connect.

Here's remaining answers

1 >> The connect is Inspirations for South Park – Archie Bunker inspired Cartman's character, Trey Parker and Matt Stone put in Kubrick references, also the character of Stan Marsh is partially inspired by Kubrick. Terry Gilliam's animation style was an inspiration for South Park.

3 >>The Connection: Self reference.

* 8 ½, the Felini film whose title referred to the director's previous output and was largely autobiographical.

* René Magritte's "The treachery of images", and 'this is not a pipe'

* Kekule, who discovered Benzene, whose structure came to him a dream as "Ouroboros", the serpent swallowing its tail, also a case of self reference.

* Charles Louis Napolean Bonaparte aka Napolean III, who rose to power through a "self coup" - a form of coup that occurs when a country's leader dissolves the national legislature and assumes powers.

* "Jerry" the tv show within Seinfeld scripted by Jerry and George.
