I explain mine in my sig. I was reading a lot of Robert Anton Wilson at the time when I first used this s/n and wanted something original, that is something that I wouldn't have to put numbers after. It's my e-mail address and I use it everywhere.

Named yourself after the super on One Day at a Time? (Was that character's first name Jimmy? Everyone just called him Snyder.)
No, he was Schneider and I don't think they ever mentioned his first name. I am Jimmy Snyder.

I came in second in the 1939 Indy 500.

Well my first one, "quantum_prodegy" I just thought sounded cool. And then it messed up (or maybe that was my fault) but I couldnt' access it so I made this one. There's a book called "Rocket Boys" and I'm not going to explain what it's all about because I'm too lazy to type it all but the movie "October Sky" was based upon it. Great book, I adapted the username from the title. Fits right in with my dream and fascination of flight and space.

Okay, I've told my story before, but I'll tell it again here. I have another nickname I use elsewhere online that's based on my real name (it isn't my real name, but if you're biologically-minded, the connection isn't too difficult to make). Anyway, that nickname acquired a nickname from some of my online friends who kept attaching -bear to the end of it. When I came here, I wanted a new nickname. The moon part came more from word-association with my other nickname rather than that it has any special meaning.

I find it amusing that my nickname here has also acquired a nickname. Maybe the next time I need to come up with a nickname for something, I'll go with Moonbie.

I know the story would sound better if I shared my other nickname, but I have very good reasons not to share it (no, I wasn't a porn star in a previous life...that's just to head off the perverts here :-p).

I really enjoyed that movie. I didn't realize it was preceeded by a book.

Evo has a job now that doesn't let her play around online so much during the day. It might take a while. If you're impatient, you can send her a PM so that when she does get online, she knows it's there waiting.
