AI Thread Summary
Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II and the longest-serving consort in British history, has passed away just shy of his 100th birthday. His death prompted a national outpouring of grief, with the BBC interrupting regular programming to air the national anthem, "God Save the Queen." Many expressed sadness that he missed reaching the centenary milestone by only two months. The Queen is now faced with the loss of her partner, and images from his funeral, particularly of her sitting alone, have resonated deeply with the public. The BBC faced significant backlash, receiving over 109,000 complaints for its extensive coverage of the event, highlighting the profound impact of Prince Philip's life and legacy on the nation.

The BBC interrupted programming to broadcast the national anthem, God Save the Queen, in response to the news of the death of a man who – as Britain’s longest-serving consort - has been at the centre of public life longer than many have been alive.

I read that he came up short by only two months and a day. We could almost call that rounding error!

Everybody in Britain who reaches age 100 gets a congratulatory telegram from the Queen.
So sad, among other reasons , he missed his by so little.
I sincerely wish Her Majesty to live to send herself one.
