Thanks :)

Hey paul, If you're gearing up for Pre-GCSE, some key Maths topics to focus on are fractions, algebra, geometry, and probability, while Physics covers forces, energy, waves, and electricity. These basics make GCSE so much easier later on!

I'm in the GCSE Maths and Physics course right now.
Assuming you're not taking GCSE Further Maths, you won't see infinity much. The probability part is along the lines of tree diagrams, sample space diagrams, multiplication and addition rules for probability, and basic probability calculations.
You won't study much space in GCSE, and cosmology even less. You'll look at the very basics like the big bang but not much more I don't think.

By the way, there is a GCSE astronomy if you're curious, but most schools don't offer it, so you have to take it outside of school. There'll be a bit of cosmology there - though even then it's not too much. Cosmology isn't covered too much even in A-Level as far as I'm concerned. If you're interested in astrophysics though, you can start by trying some of the papers here, and learning the content to take it off the guides here. The Maths is a bit challenging considering GCSE though, so make sure you're prepared before trying it.
If you are interested in infinity, that comes up in GCSE Further Maths where they teach basic calculus (limits and power rule for derivatives)

Thanks, guys.

This thread is a blast from the past :)

I didn't do much for the 2 years after posting this. But last year I did my GCSE maths, as an adult, and I'm now looking to doing my IGCSE physics, hopefully later this year (IGCSE > GCSE because the latter involves some practical work that can't be done at the centres appropriate for adult examinations; I hear the two are similar).

@TensorCalculus
How are the courses going? Are they in the UK? High school? Or further education?

Oh... yes I just realised this is 2 years ago...
They're going well! I'm in the UK in Y9 right now, doing all my GCSEs as a teenager.

Glad to hear it :)
What topics are you on at the moment, for maths, and physics?

In school in maths, circle theorems and in physics, waves, but I've studied the entire course at home :smile:
do DM me if there's anything IGCSE Physics related that might come up :)

Ah, circle theorems. Good stuff. And I'm looking forward to waves.
Thanks for the DM offer; I may take you up on that.
