What makes pursuing a doctorate in Germany so enjoyable?

I am from Germany and started a doctorate last year. I had no idea i would enjoy it so much to be able to submerge myself into a topic and even get recognition for it!
currently i am writing my first paper and enjoy using LaTeX once more.

Life is good!
