The discussion revolves around the various places participants buy wine, including grocery stores, local wine shops, and wineries. It explores preferences for wine selection based on occasion and location, as well as personal experiences with different sources of wine.
Participants express a range of opinions on the best sources for wine, with no clear consensus on the superiority of one option over another. The discussion includes both agreement on the value of local wineries and disagreement regarding the quality of wines available at grocery stores.
Some participants' comments reflect regional limitations on wine sales, which may affect their purchasing options. Additionally, personal experiences with local wineries vary significantly, indicating a subjective nature to the quality of wine available.
We can buy Tennessee wine at the Tennessee wineries.Astronuc said:There should be a couple of other options.
I live in an area with about two dozen wineries, so I can either buy a local wine at a farmers market or at the winery itself. There are wine tasting all the time, so it's easy to go out and sample wines on a weekend afternoon.
It's rare that I buy wine at the grocery store, since they tend to have low quality wines, but if I spot a good one at a good price, I'll buy one or two bottles. The local wine & liquor store has a reasoably good selection.
I like Merlots, Pinot Noirs, Shirazs, Syrahs, and Lembergers, and also Chardonnays and Rheinweins. I've had some great white wines from the Rhein Valley near Karlsruhe.
