SUMMARY

The discussion centers on selecting the optimal AP schedule for a student aspiring to become an aerospace or biomedical/mechanical engineer. The two proposed schedules include AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C, and AP Literature, with the primary difference being AP Statistics versus AP Environmental Science. Participants unanimously recommend choosing AP Statistics, citing its long-term benefits in engineering fields. Additionally, suggestions for alternative classes, such as AP Biology or drafting/engineering courses, are provided to enhance the student's academic profile.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of AP Calculus BC curriculum
  • Familiarity with AP Physics C (Calculus based)
  • Knowledge of statistics and its applications in engineering
  • Awareness of dual-enrollment opportunities
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the curriculum and benefits of AP Statistics
  • Explore AP Biology and its relevance to biomedical engineering
  • Investigate drafting and engineering classes available in high school
  • Learn about dual-enrollment programs and their advantages for aspiring engineers
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for high school students interested in engineering, academic advisors guiding course selections, and parents seeking to support their children's educational paths in STEM fields.

Next year scheduling! Please help!

So i have a choice of 2 schedules next year, them being:

AP Calculus BC (Calc I + II)
AP Statistics
AP Physics C (Calculus based)
AP Literature
Art 2-D (required)
Dual-enrollment class

or

AP Calculus BC (Calc I + II)
AP Environmental Science
AP Physics C (Calculus based)
AP Literature
Art 2-D (required)
Dual-enrollment class

I am a very good student in mathematics, I really want to become an aerospace engineer or a biomed/mechanical engineer. Thanks for any input.

I don't think there's a big difference between the 2 choices. If I were you I'd chose the first option (Statistics) because it might be more helpful than Environmental Science in the long term.

I agree with fluidistic, Statistics would probably benefit you the most out of the two. Just out of curiosity though, have you thought of taking another class, instead of one of those two (maybe AP Biology - because of biomedical, or a drafting/engineering class)?
