Discussion Overview

The thread revolves around a photo contest where participants submit images that prominently feature the color red. Members are encouraged to vote for the best representation of the theme, considering both the authenticity of the color red and its prominence in the photo.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested
  • Exploratory

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants express enthusiasm for the entries, noting the difficulty in choosing a favorite due to the quality of submissions.
  • Several members mention specific photos they favor, such as Evo's tomatoes, hypatia's crime scene presentation, and edward's image.
  • There are observations about voting patterns, with some suggesting that many participants are voting for their own pictures.
  • Concerns are raised about the potential for votes to be too spread out among the numerous entries, which may affect the outcome.
  • Some participants joke about the voting process, including the idea of creating sock puppets to vote for themselves or others.
  • There is a mention of specific participants, like Zz and Integral, not receiving any votes, which surprises some members.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the quality of the submissions and the difficulty of choosing a favorite. However, there is no consensus on which photo is the best, and multiple competing views on favorites remain evident.

Contextual Notes

The discussion reflects a light-hearted competition atmosphere, with playful interactions among participants regarding voting strategies and preferences.

We have a lot of entries this week, and they are all terrific. So this is going to be another difficult one to vote on.

Please vote for the best picture that represents our theme. Members were asked to submit a photo in which the color red is the main subject of the photo. You should judge if (i) the color being presented is truly red and (ii) that the red object is the main subject of the photo.

I just want to bite Evo's Tomatoes !

This was a touch choice. For me it came down to edward, hypatia, and neutrino, with several others close behind. Edward got my vote, but it was pretty much a toss up.

Loved the red glowing mushroom.

So far looks like almost everyone just voted on his own picture

You have 2 days left to vote in this contest.

Zz.

I like Evo's tomatoes.

I can't decide. I have several "favorites".

Doesn't look like there will be any clear winners so far.

I think when you have that many entries in a single contest, the votes are spread too thin.

I just love hypatia's crime scene presentation:!) I still laugh every time I look at it because we have a lot of those when my grandchildren are here.

Lots of great pics as usuall but I still voted for my own pic though.

At least I had the dignity of creating a sock puppet to vote for me!

Edit:

MY PUPPET VOTED FOR GEORGE!

edward and George Jones are pulling ahead of the peloton ...

I cannot believe that Zz and integral have zero votes, I figured that either one of them would have walked away with this.

I have not voted yet, of course I could abuse my mentor powers and vote for several pictures.
