SUMMARY

The discussion centers on evaluating two regression models for predicting wages based on IQ: Model 1 (wagehat = 116.9916 + 8.303*IQ) and Model 2 (logwagehat = 5.88 + 0.0088*IQ). Both models utilize the same dataset, but the realism of each model cannot be determined without additional statistical metrics, such as R-squared values. The participants emphasize the necessity of examining the underlying data to make a definitive judgment on which model is more realistic.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of regression analysis
  • Familiarity with EViews software
  • Knowledge of R-squared and its significance in model evaluation
  • Basic statistics concepts related to wage prediction
NEXT STEPS
  • Research how to interpret R-squared values in regression models
  • Learn about the assumptions and limitations of linear regression
  • Explore advanced regression techniques in EViews
  • Study the implications of using logarithmic transformations in wage prediction
USEFUL FOR

Data analysts, statisticians, and economists interested in wage prediction models and regression analysis techniques.

there are two regreesion model Eviews output... which one is more realistic?

model 1:
wagehat = 116.9916 + 8.303*IQ
model 2:
logwagehat = 5.88 + 0.0088*IQ

both of them use same samples...

do i need to know futher statistic information to judge which one is more realistic? such as Rsquare or some thing?

We have absolutely no way of knowing that without seeing the data.
